Too often, members of our Armed Forces return home & find that life without a mission & team is tough to adjust to. Battlefields 2 Ballfields tries to fill that gap.
The joy, challenge and comradery that comes from being an official is hard to replicate anywhere else. As soon as I step onto a pitch, I become part of a community of people who are as passionate about soccer as I am. I feel like I belong and have a purpose.
To make the leap into becoming and official easier, the organization provides scholarships in the shape of uniforms, certification fees, training, insurance and mentoring to active duty or military veterans located in the United States who are looking to get into refereeing. Almost all major sports in the U.S. are eligible including Baseball, Softball, Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Volleyball and Wrestling.
They only have been around for about 5 years and they already have over 300 serviceman and women under scholarship! This is a very significant contribution and huge source of new adult refs who can fill our massive gaps at all levels of games.
Part of the mission of Refs Need Love Too is to try and give back to this community that has given me so much. 10% of all profits from RNLT merchandise will be donated to charities that support and mentor referees. I hope that by the end of this year, we can make enough to pay for a full year scholorship for a referee.
